What is the Social Housing Program?
The social Housing Program provides safe and adequate housing to individuals and families in need. This program is intended to serve households with low incomes; priority is given to seniors (55+) families with children or dependents, individuals with disabilities, and individuals who cohabitate to provide needed support to one or more household members. The rent for a housing unit is based on before–tax household income. Assignment is based on availability and needs assessment.
This program is possible through contributions by the federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
