FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING

The Town will be flushing fire hydrants on Tuesday, July 14th from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and, if needed, on July 15th & 16th from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Discoloration of water may occur. If it does, run an outside tap until the water is clear.

DO NOT RUN A HOT WATER TAP IN THE HOUSE TO CLEAR DISCOLORED WATER!

  HIGHWAY 7 CONSTRUCTION
From 1.75 km east of Railway Ave., Delisle to the west access of Harris for a total distance of 41.45 km.
The contractor is expected to begin road work approx. May 19, 2020 and is expected to complete the project, weather permitting, approx. June 20, 2020.
Public traffic can expect minor delays and disruptions as one lane will be open most of the time.

COMPOST

Pick-up will be July 14th & 28th. Compost will be picked up in the back alley and should be in a 17-gallon capacity plastic or metal can.

DELISLE PLAYSCHOOL REGISTRATION

If you have a child who will be 3 before December 31, 2020 and/ or a 4-year old at home you are eligible to register!

Only 1 short volunteer shift will be required per family.

Classes are 2.5 hours long. 3-year old’s and 4-year old’s are taught separately. The Playschool follows the Play and Exploration guidelines, striving to offer a positive and safe learning environment. The Playschool has a teacher that is educated in early childhood education.

ONLINE BANKING
Scotiabank customers can now pay their property taxes and water and sewer accounts through online banking. Please use your 7-digit account number for taxes and your 8-digit account number for water & sewer. At the beginning of June, this service will also be available for CIBC customers. After that time, customers of all the major Canadian financial institutions will have access to the online banking services for property taxes and water & sewer accounts.

PLAYGROUND PROGRAM
Considering these unprecedented times of Covid-19 restrictions and the uncertainty they are causing, it is with deep regret that the Recreation Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the summer playground program for the 2020 Summer Season.

VANSCOY & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

The Vanscoy and District Agricultural Society is pleased to announce our grade 12 post-secondary bursary recipient, Keela Corey. This annual bursary is valued at $1000.  We wish her all the best on her post-secondary endeavours. Thank you to all those who applied.

Also, just a reminder that our September 2020 Fair has been cancelled but preparations are underway to ensure a great comeback in 2021!

TOWN OFFICE

The Town Office is now open to the general public. Only one customer is allowed in the office at a time.

Payments can still be made online where available or through the mail at Box 40, Delisle, Sk. S0L 0P0.

Interest charges on overdue water and sewer accounts has been temporarily suspended until further notice.

RCMP DETACHMENT HOURS
Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 P.M. – 4:30 P.M.

COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

-Council held a regular meeting on June 9th in the Town Hall.

-The Town will use its MEEP grant of $149,190 for the replacement of curbs, road base and pavement on the 200 Block of 6th Avenue East.  Construction will start in 2020 and be completed in 2021.

-The land lease agreement with Sask. Energy for the stockpile site at the east highway entrance will be extended for an additional 12 months.

-Dan Crapley submitted his resignation as a Town Councillor effective June 9th.  His council seat will be left vacant until the general election to be held this fall.  A big thank you to Dan for all his work on Town Council and in the community.

-The following changes were made to the committee appointments:

Personnel – Brunett (Chairman), King (Alt. Anderchek)

Recreation Association – Mantyka (Alt. Peakman)

Recreation Facility Management – Brunett, Anderchek, King

Police Commission – Brunett & Dubkowski

Fire Commission – Peakman & Mantyka (Alt. Anderchek)

VMAD (EMO) – Anderchek & Dubkowski

-The campgrounds shall remain closed for the balance of 2020.

-Interest charges will resume on any water & sewer account in arrears as of July 31, 2020.

-The New Town Ball Diamonds are now open.

DELISLE WHEATLAND REGIONAL LIBRARY

Curbside Pickup Service

Delisle Branch is closed to the public but we are offering our collection to you through curbside holds pickup.

Starting July 6th our curbside pickup service hours will be:

Mondays: 12:00 – 4:00

Wednesdays: 12:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Fridays: 12:00 – 4:00

Our available pickup hours will be re-assessed on an ongoing basis. Opening of the library to the public is not scheduled until phase 4.2 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

A few things you should know:

1) Our book drop will re-open at this time. If you have a large number of items to return, please contact us during business hours to make arrangements so as not to overwhelm the book drop.

2) Currently you may place holds on Delisle Branch items only. Interlibrary loans are still suspended. Place your hold online at www.wheatland.sk.ca; by using the SILS app; by email to delisle.library@wheatland.sk.ca or by phone during business hours at 306-493-8288.

3) When your hold is ready, we will contact you to schedule a pick-up time. Your bagged items will be placed on a table in the hallway beside the library doors at your scheduled time.

4) If you had books arrive before March 17 then we still have them at the branch waiting for you!
